Festival Submissions
Submission Requirements
What we'll need from you if your film is selected for inclusion in a festival collection — technical specs, artwork, and the permissions side of things.
Submitting to Brighton Rocks or Hastings Rocks?
These requirements apply once your film has been selected for a collection. Submitting your film to the festival itself happens directly through Brighton Rocks or Hastings Rocks.
Film Master
If your film is selected for inclusion in a festival collection, we'll need a clean export to master from. We work with whatever you can realistically supply — just flag your format when you send it over.
Resolution & Codec
Full HD 1080p preferred. ProRes, DNxHD or a high-bitrate H.264 export all work — avoid re-compressing an already compressed file if you can help it.
Aspect Ratio & Frame Rate
Whatever your film was finished in — 16:9, 2.39:1, 4:3 — is fine. Keep the original frame rate rather than converting it.
Audio
Stereo or 5.1, at the mix you finished with. Please make sure dialogue levels are consistent from scene to scene.
Subtitles (optional)
If your film has burned-in or separate subtitle files, let us know — we can author them onto the disc as a selectable track.

What it becomes
This is roughly what your film master turns into once it's authored, packaged and printed — menus, disc art and all.
Artwork & Credits
02A Still or Poster
One strong image from the film, or a poster if you have one — used for the disc menu and case artwork.
Credits List
Director, producer and any cast or crew you'd like credited on the disc menu and case.
Synopsis
A short synopsis, around 50–100 words, for the case back and menu.
Runtime & Content Notes
Exact runtime, plus anything we should flag for viewers — flashing imagery, strong language, that sort of thing.

Rights & Permissions
You keep ownership and copyright of your film throughout — nothing here changes that. If your film uses licensed music, archive footage, or other third-party material, please make sure you hold (or can clear) the rights to include it on a physical release before it's selected.
If your film is chosen for a collection, we'll send a straightforward licensing agreement to sign before anything is produced — covering exactly what we're allowed to do with your film, and for how long.
